12 Beauty Sense Your hair professional only makes what they do look easy because of the time they spent in school earning their license to practice, as well as the hours after graduation spent gaining advanced education and honing their craft. Wonderfully, through Resolution 168, the US House of Representatives recognized educational and training institutions for beauty and wellness professionals when they designated March 6, 2019, as National Beauty and Wellness Education Day. Resolution 168 highlights the importance of proper training and licensing of beauty and wellness professionals. It recognizes the aggressive industry job growth expected over the next decade, which far outpaces the national average for all occupations, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. It acknowledges the hundreds of hours of education, study, and training required to prepare for, and pass, state licensing and obtain certification to practice, and the opportunities beauty and wellness institutions provide to those seeking to enter the workforce. 2019 National Beauty and Wellness Education Day P R O D U C T H I G H L I G H T Commenting on the resolution, Michael Halmon, board president for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS), says, "On behalf of the AACS Board of Directors and our member schools, I would like to thank Representatives Al Lawson, Jr. (FL) and Lee Zeldin (NY) and the US House of Representatives for recognizing our beauty and wellness industry. Our members work diligently to ensure our students receive a high-quality education, preparing them for entry into this industry field. Oftentimes, our graduates, who are not traditional students, cite their completion of beauty school as changing their lives forever.
